Pilgrims in the Holy Sepulchre dab oil on, and kiss, the Stone of Unction or Anointing Stone on which (tradition says) Jesus' body was prepared for burial. John 19:39-40 says, "Nicodemus . . . came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes . . . . They took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices . . . ."
