Some dark colored foul smelling liquid is put in the bowl. I guess it attracts flies 'cause they come in and then can't get out of the screened box. By next spring the traps will be half full of dead flies. I'll try to get more information from the real moshavniks who have lived here since the beginning, 1949.
Fresh new fly traps all around the moshav today! Glad to see the full ones gone.
