An artist friend lives just down the mountain. He has started playing around with "carving" light-weight cast stone blocks, 128, commonly known in Israeli Hebrew as "Etung" blocks. Apartment buildings are built with them.
So far there is the little sheep and these Biblical figures.
A work in progress.
Ahh, talent and time, the perfect combination . . . . Must be nice.

ReplyDeleteunique and quite pretty
ReplyDeletei like how the one fits into the landscape. he appears to be talented in sculpting :)
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing them with us.
have a lovely week.
Very talented artist. Nice pictures!
ReplyDeleteIs it stone or some kind of material such as plaster that your friend then carves from? The rock looks porous and soft although I've never carved stone. I am kind of a whiz on pushing colored mud.
ReplyDeleteThese are great, he is talented.
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at the mediums artists find to use.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea - the mind of an artist travels beyond the common use of objects:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your reactions, everyone.
ReplyDeletePA, all I know about these Etong or Etung blocks is what I posted, which I found via Google. I'll have to go inspect them more closely. But the friends live in the middle of dozens of beehives and this is the period when the bees are active and aggessive and no one may go there.
What very beautiful work. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHe certainly is talented. Very serene and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautifully made. Thanks, Dina.
