Palms heavy with dates

.

It is date season and Meitar's many date palms are getting heavy with fruit.

  2. I adore eating dates, but have never seen them dangling in huge bunches on the tree like that.

  4. N. Calif has palms, but not coconut or date. So this post made me a bit Whistful. Though I am very much enjoying the Bay Area, Dina. Good Shabbos to you

  5. Brings back memories. I used to see these trees when I was a boy in So. California but I didn't know they were dates. They were just something for kids to have fun with by throwing them at each other. :-) These palms have a lot more dates then the ones I remember. Also, when I was a boy I remember a place near the beach that sold date milkshakes yum!

  6. Wow, they really produce those dates. We've been eating some really delicious dates this week from somewhere in Southern California. Sending you good wishes for a happy Succot! It's time for me to watch that wonderful Israeli movie, Ushpizin, again.

  7. Well I didn't expect to see the palm trees so short in your second shot Dina. Such big bunches for such a small tree 😊 Are they available to anyone passing by with a fancy for a date?

  8. Well, from y'all's comments I guess I should count my blessings, being able to watch the dates grow right here in town.

    James, that's funny!

Perth, there is a date distribution day for the public after they are cut down from the trees. I have to find out more about that. Will let you know.
I've never seen anyone just picking one or two dates as they walk by, though.

  9. There are lots of palm trees here in central CA but I haven't ever noticed any dates. My grandparents lived on Palm Drive, with lots of Palm trees lining the road ... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--fYQl9TQrZo/U44gRA_CpAI/AAAAAAAAOxo/aoHTwfJEVlY/s1600/palm2.jpg

  12. I LOVE dates!

Ahhhh... my comments are posting now and I see where it says it's being moderated. I was looking for that before and couldn't see it. Weird. Anyway, it's OK now. :-)
