Toy building blocks for a giant?

.

More scenes from the new neighborhood being built in my town.

Don't these look like toy building blocks for a lucky giant?!

A lot like Lego Duplo, no?

They were lined up on both sides of the new street,

. . . just waiting to become a new sidewalk.
.
(Linking to OurWorld Tuesday.  And for ABC Wednesday C is for construction.)

  1. The new street looks straight, wide and well lit. It will be the start of an excellent place to live. Will there be enough good soil and water for trees? front gardens?

  8. Looks like you'll be getting a lot of new neighbors soon! Are all those tiles and bricks and blocks also made in Israel? Hard to imagine a container ship full of bricks from somewhere else, but I suppose it's possible. I will be interested to see the new neighborhood when it's all finished and with landscaping.

  10. Hels, I'm sure they will have to bring in some soil and put some trees along the streets, with little irrigation hoses around each young tree. But in general the new neighborhood has (so far) more of a desert-y look and feel to it. My neighborhood is the oldest, 31 years old, so it has the most trees and each house has green yards.

Hels, about your previous question about solar panels on the new houses, take a look at this idea! Terracotta roof tiles that have their own photovoltaic system:

Sara, I'm not sure where all the pavers and tiles come from. I'll go back down and search for some labels. The clay roof tiles are traditionally made in Italy. Recently one Italian manufacturer opened a factory down here in the Negev, in Yerucham:

Hildred, I had to look up your word "lookee-loo." :)

PhenoMenon, haha. But I always walk down there on Saturdays when no one is working, so no coughing. It is kind of creepy, though, with no people anywhere.

    Rune, that's funny. :)
