Asking you for slicha

.
"Jews praying in the synagogue on Yom Kippur" -- 1878 painting by Maurycy Gottlieb

The Day of Atonement is almost upon us! Tomorrow, after the afternoon feast, we will enter into 25 hours of fast and prayer. Yom Kippur atones for many sins if we truly repent. But before God can forgive us for the sins against him, we must ask (and hopefully receive) forgiveness from the people we may have hurt or wronged.

My dear friends and blog-reading friends, I sincerely ask your pardon
> for when I have not answered your welcome comments in a timely manner (or at all!)
> for not yet finding answers to some of your good questions
> for postponing visits to your blog, thinking I will get to it when there is more time
> for letting some e-mails slip out of sight onto the previous page of my inbox
> for not yet posting awards some of you have graciously granted to Jerusalem Hills
Please forgive me for the sin of procrastination and laziness.
I will do my best to be a better blogger-friend in this new year.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Shalom, may we all have shalom!

  6. All is forgiven on my end but I must admit, I didn't know it needed to be. I have more sins of omission than I can think of. I'm sure our Father will be reminding me.

My church will be having a special time of prayer and fasting on the day of Atonement. Prayer and fasting to start at 6 pm tomorrow night. Fasting to end at 5:59 pm Thursday. I think I can handle the fasting, if I do a lot of praying. HA!

  7. Thank you, Maria. But forgive YOU, for what??

    Richie, that's perfect! LOL

Leora, I find it gets easier as I grow older. Savlanut.

Share my point of view--shalom and welcome. I enjoyed seeing you on your nice blog from Malaysia.

Webradio, the artist himself shows up in this famous painting. He is the young man who looks like he has a headache from fasting 25 hours. Oi . . .

JC, no kidding?! A church in Alabama, USA, is having a day of atonement? That is great. Thank you for your solidarity in fasting with us. It makes it easier. I think 90% of enduring the fast is psychological and not physical.
God bless you and your church.

  9. One of my most favorite Psalms says, "For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his mercy to those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us" (Psalm 103: 11, 12)

How far is the east from the west?

Oh, may he remove our transgressions from us THAT far!

  10. LOL if that is the worst you've got then you are doing very well. You are forgiven and I hope that you can find it in your heart to do the same for us.
    *hugs*
