Funny-color sky over Jerusalem

The sky was such a strange and ominous color at 4:30 the other day. A few tiny drops tried to fall and then stopped. A good thing, too, because I was on a guided walking tour of 19th century Jerusalem and wanted the camera to stay dry.
This building from 1904 was once home to Lemel Elementary School.

Close to 400 bloggers contribute every Thursday and Friday to SkyWatch, and every week our numbers increase. You're welcome to visit the very different skies and to share your own sky.

  1. Funny, the photos I posted last week had a similar pinkish quality. Thanks for sharing both photo and stamp.

  2. Neat! The sky matches the stamp.

Literally, we are praying for rain for Jerusalem here in Highland Park. Hope you and your camera can walk between the raindrops.

  7. That is a very unique looking sky. I'm glad that you didn't get rained on. (I'm playing catch up because we had gotten a little behind in school, and I had to make that my first priority this week, but I did read through all your recent posts and they are fascinating as always. I always feel smarter after I've been here.)
    *hugs*

  14. I, too, just posted a 'pink sky over the lake' photo on my blog -- as well as lots of lovely pink and mauve colored fall leaves -- so unusual for this time of the year here. Usually they are bright red/gold/yellow.

Unfortunately, Dina, my nun cousin is not too computer-literate, so no -- no blog!

  21. This is an almost unreal sky! The clock is very unique too! very good to share it with us. Our days are counted and sooner or later they will pass too. I used this quotation for my Sky Watch photos. I hope you don't mind.

  22. Excellent! Ominous is probably the best word to be found for a sky like that!
    Cheers, Klaus

  23. I always think of Israel as white buildings from antiquity--interesting photo to bring me up to date! And thank you for Hadaya's reminder, which I also needed.

  26. What in interesting sky colour, and how lucky to capture it, somewhere between sunset-pink and stormy. I love seeing the clock there against it, a reminder of passing time. Lovely!

  32. Thanks all, for sharing your reactions and ideas for this scene.

Ilana, yes, I remember the mysterious old boats in your post.

Leora, sky and stamp colors the same--I never noticed that! Thanks for seeing! Thanks for the prayers; about 20 drops fell on me yesterday. Short and sweet.

    Webradio, rose? Yeah, good word.

    Deb, the pink is spreading...

Carole, yeah, I like Hebrew letter clocks. Quite rare.

Shimmy Mom, aww, thanks. Thanks for taking the precious time.

Kaybee, your fall scenes are magnificent!

Dong, Israel does have many interesting stamps. But nobody uses snail mail anymore, so I never get any good stamps.

Sandradb, shalom to you in Croatia!

Kay, in Prague there is a clock on an old synagogue that goes backwards, like Hebrew!

Kris, one shower a few nights ago which I slept through. Another twenty drop yesterday. That's about it so far. Sure smelled good yesterday for a few minutes.

Wil, I hope all is well with you. "This too shall pass" in your new banner--that's a statement all right.

Noni, you make me realize I should post some modern buildings. Be well.

Susan, oh right, another reminder of passing time. Didn't think of that angle. I was surprised the clock still works.

Petrea, you are too nice. Thanks for your being.
