Hard to believe, but Tiberias has even more cats than Jerusalem.
It must be the prospect of a seafood dinner.
The cats hang out on the basalt boulders at the waterline of the Sea of Galilee.
Look at this one in mid-air, descending from the Promenade to the rocks!
All along the Promenade are restaurants. Most days of the year the diners sit outside, the better to see the lake.
The cats see the tantalizing fish swimming but can never catch them. Instead they wait for the tourists to have pity and throw them some tidbits or leftovers.
This white-bearded human fisherman had caught a whole bucketful of fish with his long pole.

Greetings to the Camera-Critter Sunday cat-lovers.
A great dating place for the cats!
ReplyDeleteMY Camera Critters
I wished I were a cat sometimes! They are nice animals and very free to go where ever they want.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comments. I shall try to find a photo of my husband and us and put it in the sidebar. He was a special man and very kind to everybody. He was a husband and great father.
Nice pictures! I hope the cats did get some fish in the end....
ReplyDeleteClicking to enlarge your last image, I saw what an impressive white beard this fisherman has! Nice post!
ReplyDeleteI bet there aren't a lot of mice or rats in Tiberias.
ReplyDeleteCats by the sea! This is so unusual!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know you've got fishes. Fishermen don't get many fishes in Hawaii if they're pole fishing from the shore.
ReplyDeleteMEOW!
ReplyDeleteDelightful felines, Dina!
ReplyDeleteAloha, Friend!
Comfort Spiral
I always enjoy enlarging your shots, Dina.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm not much of a cat person, I have learned to appreciate them and their hard work at keeping the monastery mice free!
