A streetlamp-induced shadow

.
Walking toward home one dark night, I suddenly felt the presence of some strange entity lurking beside the garbage bins.
I raised my eyes from the street and . . .
Yikes! A grass-skirted "native"!
.
I quick took a flash picture to see what the devil it was.
Nothing more than a weird CD holder, but in the dark it sure made my heart skip a beat at first sight.
.
Neighbors put out all kinds of things the night before garbage collection.
I doubt if this guy ever made it to the garbage truck. Hope not.
.
The shadowy shadow is for Hey Harriet's Shadow Shot Sunday.

  2. In the shadows it looked quite bizarre, glad you showed us the other version as well.

  3. How whimsical! Is this being a lurker, looking at all the passers-by? Yet, he stares out in the open at all who walk by. Perhaps he craves attention?

  5. This 'native' could very well be from Indonesia. I think the carving style is from the area of Papua in the eastern most part of our archipelago. A surprising find, Dina.

  6. That would certainly surprise anyone. I know I would have screamed, but I tend to scream every time I'm startled.
I'm sure someone got to it before the trash collectors. A CD-holder like that would start a whole new trend in some places.

  7. Funny! Great shot, looks very strange. I'm sure it wasn't out for long, after all " one mans junk is another mans treasure"

  9. I'm surprised you didn't scream. That would really have made the hair on my hair stand up. What a scary CD holder! Original, I guess.

  11. Oh, Dian, it is always a treat to scroll through the post you have put up since my last visit. There is always something fascinating going on around you. Maybe around the rest of us, too, but you always find it!
