And while we are on the subject of soofganiot/jelly donuts, take a look at the (approximate) statistics on how many of them soldiers ate this week of Chanuka!
And that is only at their bases, not at home.
And while you are at the Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson's blog, you can cast your vote for their Photo of the Year.
.
I just hope our soldiers will not feel too heavy to move after eating 385,000 soofganiot.

That is a seriously large amount of donuts. I feel a bit faint just thinking about it...
ReplyDeleteI have to say, from a photography standpoint I'm a bit disappointed with their photographs of the year. The most visually arresting ones don't really highlight real "that was the year that was" type events, and the ones that do are frankly lousy pictures...

My photography is available for purchase - visit Around the Island Photography on etsy and Society6 and bring home something beautiful today!
Robin, the young soldier-photographers are young, give them time to learn. (I hope)

I feel an urge to emulate your soldier but soofganiot aren't readily available here. I'll try our donuts called 'frati' (literally: friars). Very nice post!
ReplyDelete;-)surely soldiers burn lots of calories!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... maybe I should help celebrate and go get one of those sugar donuts. Mmmmm...
ReplyDeleteI think about my young cousin Josh and his time in the IDF, as a "lone soldier" in the past few years. (He is no longer in the IDF, but has been called back from time to time.)
ReplyDeleteI do hope this is not all they ate...
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of donuts! And candles. Just think how many of both were consumed(donuts), and lit (candles) all around the world! Amazing.
