Barack Obama to the Western Wall

.
Israel has been hosting Senator Obama. At 4:30 this morning he made a surprise visit to the Western Wall for some quiet prayer.

Obama followed Jewish tradition and wrote a little note to God and squeezed it in between the stones. What do you reckon he requested? .

BTW, his name sounds quite good here. Barak was a prophet in the Bible. And the Hebrew word barak means lightning.

  1. How ineresting. I don't think this will make the news in Canada and it shows yet another side of Obama. Thanks for translating his first name. Hmmmm. Lightning.

  2. While only hindsight is 20/20 and we really can't predict, if Obama would make a good president - I sure hope that if he makes it, he'll be a good repairman. I shudder on the alternative offered in this election.
    Cheers, Klaus

  6. I love this shot. I wonder why they didn't show it over here. I'm so glad he's over there to get a first hand look.

  7. Hmmm. I'm confused now. (Which is not difficult for me.)
I am not up to date with the US election stuff, but wasn't there a hoo-har about him apparently having a muslim background (as if THAT should make a difference in politics!) and he adamantly claimed he was a Christian through and through, yet here he is wearing a yamulke(spelling?) and praying in Jewish tradition?

Maybe I am not the only one confused....

    Nice shot though.

  8. If I were him, I would wish for a miracle, if elected, because it will require many to fix what has happened in the US.

My My, I sort of wonder why anyone would want this job now. And I certainly don't know if there is a suitable candidate, Senate sounds like a good place for someone so inexperienced, but .. maybe in this situation, it would just be good to have George OOO.
Maybe with all he has done to destroy the constitution, having any choice about who is elected will be the major miracle!

  9. This man is such a stunning fraud. The fawning leftist media is doing all it can to put him in the White House. He is NOT a friend of Israel.

  10. What a wonderful shot, Dina! Terrific that you got close enough to take it. Amazing. 200,000 people showed up for his speech today in Berlin.

Many of us have very high hopes for him.

  11. Ah, silly me, now I see it's an AP photo! You took the lovely shot of the wall, where the prayers look like bits of colored cloth cascading through the cracks. Little bits of high hopes...

  12. He travels fast! I think it was the Berlin blog that showed him there as well!

I wonder if this was his first visit to Jerusalem.

Luke, he's just trying to keep up with John McCain for days absent.

  14. How very predictable. Photo shots of wannabee presidents at the Wailing Wall and Yad Vashem - vying for the American Jewish vote. Actually I don't think that the AJ are that gullible. On the other hand, who am I to say as I am not American.

  16. Even though I support Mr. Obama I must agree with Kfar Sabarit. It is a predictable move! Mr. Obama is not a magician but a politician, after all.

  17. he is indeed lightening, Dina! He will bring the change we need to the US. I'm sure he asked God to protect him, the Jewish people and the US. :) If you pray, pray that he is elected in November! :)

  19. How sad for Barack Obama. The thoughts and prayers people leave at the Kotel are extremely private and personal. They are not meant to be removed or read by anyone else. I would feel so incredibly violated if my note was taken from the wall and made public. However, you have to take it all with a grain of salt, because they do say when you run for public office, nothing about your life is private anymore. It's still very sad to me that even this special and sacred aspect of his life couldn't remain private. It's sad for him and also sad for the student who pulled this "prank," that he had to take such a special ritual away from Obama.

Great blog, by the way. I'll be sure to stop by regularly!

  20. What the Obamessiah wrote was "Hi, Dad! It's me, your son!"
