New Year's Eve with marsupials

The best New Year's Eve (in my daughter and son-in-law's eyes) was to be deep underground on a Jenolan Caves tour that night. We all stayed in a spartan cottage in the bush and drank rainwater from the tap (after boiling it), as a toast to a good 2009.
The young kangaroo had milk from Mama.
What a cutie, the little joey!
A dozen fearless, friendly kangaroos were always hanging around the several cottages, hoping in vain for a hand-out.
So amazing to watch them bounding along on their hind legs! Kangaroos are so, well, Australian! Gotta love them.

Lots more animals from around the world over at Camera-Critters this weekend.

Hi Dina! Hope you survived the food and the champagne, and entered 2009 in great shape! ;))
Just imagine you seeing the fireworks at harbour Bridge! I'm so envious... ;))
Happy New (Kangoroo) Year!
Blogtrotter will be posting on Delhi the next weeks; lots to see… Hope you like it and wish you a great weekend!

Dina, I didn't know there were cabins at the Janolan Caves. I know there is a splendid old Hotel there with, last time we stayed, a marvellous chef! That was most unexpected. Rainwater is safe to drink without boiling. We have done so for the last 38 years and have never had any problems. People are just getting too pansyfied these days. If your environment is too serile, how can you possibly build up an immune system?
Hope you are enjoying your stay in Oz!
Love Arija.

beautiful Dina.
It sounds like you were charmed over the new year.
The kangaroo does seem like the kind of animal that would bring good luck.

Also Dina I had a beautiful new years eve also.

I usually like to go to our city square, it is so magical, the last seconds on the bell tower chimed like a new years prayer and the fireworks and the bands but this year it was hovering around -40C. so I decided not to go but I had a very nice time sitting around with friends listening to music that I really appreciated and I felt great about the abundance and warmth that surrounded me.

shalom.
love and light.

Kangaroos are such strnage animals, looking a lot like friendly dinosaurs with their huge hind legs and tiny ones at the front.

This sounds like so much fun. The little roos are adorable. Aren't they supposed to be dangerous? I love caves, too.
