Doggie coats

True, it is down to 2-7 degrees C in Jerusalem (36-45 F). But is that cold enough for dogs to need jackets?
This is something I've never seen before. The pet shop across the street from Denmark Square brought out their entire "Winter Collection 2008-9" to display on the sidewalk.
Pretty snazzy coats, eh? But I have never once seen a Jerusalem dog dressed in one.
In Tel Aviv, yes, many. And Tel Aviv is always warmer than Jerusalem. I guess our dogs are just tougher and braver and they grow natural fur coats for our chilly winter.
BTW, snow is predicted here in the central hills tonight. It has been 13 months since the last snowfall. Let's hope and pray you have some white photos to see tomorrow!
.
Animal pictures from all over are assembled today over at Camera-Critters.

  1. It's always funny to me that we humans feel the need to clothe animals that have their own fur coat. :)
Thirteen months since snow - wow.
Wishing you a white tomorrow. :)

This week my post is at Carletta’s Captures.

  3. I have indees seen some dressed up doggies in Tel Aviv, even when it wasn't that cold.Today it was very windy and I did put an old too small t-shirt on my short haired doggie as the wind was really strong. He did not like it......

  4. dogs need coats as much as human beings need gold necklaces...

snow is pretty, but that's as far as it goes - i don't want it on my doorstep, it simply creates havoc

  5. That's the question. Do dogs really need to be dress up ? Or is it their owner's pleasure ?
    Let's see tomorrow ?
I long to watch Jerusalem hills under a white cover. It will be the time to eat your Cholent recipe.

  6. I look forward to seeing your white photos soon :) Hope the snow comes!
I have a dog myself, and once or twice a year it is could enough to put on a coat (for my dog). But she HATES this. I cant believe that any dog loves to wear coats.

  7. I guess it depends on how hardy the dogs are. My mom's little dog likes his sweater, because he gets cold easily. I guess because he's so short-haired and doesn't have any fat on him.

  8. Lots of doggie clothes are available here in Metro Manila too — something which I could never understand because our average temperature is in the mid-20 C year-round. Rarely goes down to the tens where some dogs just might feel cold.

  9. It is snowing here in Little Rock, Arkansas. My chihuahua mix has coats, but she doesn't wear them. She does better in cold weather than my Beagle. Hope you get enough snow to be pretty, but not enough to block up the roads.

  10. Always think dog coats look so silly, unless it is somewhere really cold. Look forward to some snow photos - didn't realise it snowed there always imagine it as a hot climate.

  12. Tif has a friend who has a hairless dog (good for allergies if you don't have to look at it too much). It's a pretty homely dog, sorry to say. One of those doggie coats would really help this poor dog.
Snow? Oh my! I hope you've got a nice warm coat.

  13. last week they had a doggie parade here. All the dogs "put on the dog"
I have a couple of coats for my dog here, and only rarely put on

  14. I see a lot of small dogs in coats, not big dogs.
