Washing the floor

Shalom dear friends. I have been away (far away) on a dig for six days, without my laptop. And now, coming home for the weekend, I find my modem is not working. So, a few minutes on the neighbors' wireless now is all that is possible.
Hopefully, after another week of archaeology in Tiberias, I'll come home next Friday and the telephone company will have fixed the ADSL connection. Missing you!
.
Digging is not all pickaxe, turia, trowel, and brush. Sometimes, if you are lucky, it is also washing a mosaic floor with wet rags!
This one is probably 6th or 7th century.
.
The dig is fun. Nice group of young staff and many volunteers from abroad. Tiberias is very hot, in the 90s F.
Lots more pics next week. Thanks for waiting. Shalom to you all!
.

I am so wicked jealous! 90??!! It's in the lower 50's here and that's a "heat wave" for late October!

Ach, I'm going somewhere warm in a bit, so I mustn't grumble.

Hey, this is great! Rarely do we get to see you at work, and it's a thrill. Anything else you can tell us about the dig would be appreciated--when you get your ADSL working, of course.

Good for you! I am so glad you are able to do some archaeology.

In the news recently was the discovery of a Mayan pyramid and city the size of downtown Los Angeles. Awesome!

When you will be back into the realm of internet, you might discover that I gave you an award...

When the floor is washed, I hope you can take a photo of it!

In the meantime, I'll just repeat what I said last week: Please take care of yourself, Dina. Especially in that heat!

Interesting shot, the mosaic looks great, hard to believe it's that old. Good to see you wear knee protectors.

How wonderful to be on such an ancient floor. I wonder what the vibrations are like, and I look forward to hearing more about this site when you return.

Aha! I had wondered why I didn't see daily photos from you! I gave your blog address to a Jewish client of mine. Gary was going to give it to several of his friends. I think you need kneepads for washing tile floors!
