I've heard of birdbaths but never bird SHOWERS!
Doesn't it look like the second pigeon is standing under the spewing water?
This rather slimy fountain is in a monastery fishpond.

Shalom to all the Camera Critters folks.

Recognize this place. Took a few pictures too, of pigeons that had a shower. Sweet:-)
ReplyDeleteI've never thought of a bird shower before now but why not?
ReplyDeleteAlthough as you say, it looks "slimy" but the birds and fish don't seem to mind!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference the season makes. When we were there the fountain's stone wasn't slimy at all. (Here's mine :).)

It's a nice place for birds to cool themselves.
ReplyDeletehe does look like he's showering :)
ReplyDeletepretty shot, slime and all
Spiderdama, yes, it is from our day there together with your family.
ReplyDeleteLeif, you know, I just Googled the topic and there are videos of pet birds taking a shower in the bathroom!
Kate, yeah, I suppose the more natural the better, for the animals at least.
Robin, and YOU even made a Psalm card out of the stony-clean fountain! It was a nice day there for me, meeting your family.
VP, the minute I wrote "pigeon" I wondered what wrathful reaction VP would give. LOL
Zakton, yes, I wish all the wild animals around here had such a good water source in the hot summer.
Dianne, shalom. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWell they're out in the rain all the time, aren't they? this end of the world, anyway! :) Nice picture!
ReplyDeleteI do know that they make a 'shower' of water in our yard...from the bird bath. LOL
ReplyDeleteI do so love the beauty of your photo!!!
My Critter blog this week is a photo of a laughing gull, AND I added a touching dog video -1.5 minutes long- of a dog that was blown away in a tornado only to CRAWL home 2 weeks later. It's a must see...the stamina and determination of animals.
Have a great weekend.
Here's my link to Camera Critters.

Dawn Treader, unfortunately we don't have all that much rain for birds to be out in. Maybe they DO like it when it comes.
ReplyDeleteHootin' Anni, your post is full of good stuff. I had some laughs.
I've had budgies who loved showers and I know parrots do, so why not pigeons? It looks like a tranquil place.
ReplyDeleteVP's comment is funny! Pigeons & seagulls are not well loved!
ReplyDeleteI think birds like to splash a bit. Most folks do.
ReplyDeleteI think the pigeons are having fun! Lovely photo, Dina.

They really seem to like. I have at least 2 dozen photos of them, taken pretty much everywhere, from Auckland to Anchorage.
ReplyDeleteCute capture, maybe they just wanted to oool off?
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. The pigeon obviously liked the feel of the water spray.
ReplyDeleteIn more rainy places they don't need to take showers: showers come to them!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous critter!
ReplyDeleteMy Critter post, have a blessed Sunday!
It must be a hot day. The cool water must feel good, slime or no slime.
ReplyDeleteHow funny! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cute :)
