Donkeys are my favorite animal; and there is nothing cuter than a baby donkey.
Here I'm trying to put a halter on the foal for the first time.
I loved working, living, and playing at the Good Samaritan Donkey Sanctuary as a volunteer, for a month, back in 2005.
The farm is in the Hunter Valley in Australia.
The Kokas family keeps some one hundred rescued donkeys, with much love and kindness.

ReplyDeleteI am not really an animal guy, but I may have a soft spot for donkey. I am glad that someone thought of rescuing them...
ReplyDeleteMay time and life continue to treat you all kind.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good new month and Thursday as well.
goodness, I didn't ever hear of the Good Samaritan Donkey Sanctuary. I didn't even realise we had donkeys in Australia *blush*
ReplyDeleteDina you've done some of the most incredible things during your life! How wonderful that someone, somewhere rescues donkeys!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet.
ReplyDeleteHe's so sweet! I heard just the other day that donkeys are put with herds of sheep as guards! They are evidently fearless and aggressively go after any predators trying to get at the flock. That's amazing. I just looked up "guard donkeys" and it is true.
ReplyDeleteThat is just adorable.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a donkey, baby or adult. S/He's adorable!
ReplyDeleteFriends, everyone should have a donkey in their life.
ReplyDeleteVDP, Thanks for your recommendation about "Platero." It sounds wonderful. I will look for the book in English.
Sara, at Heifer Ranch we tried using a donkey for guarding sheep but coyotes still killed some sheep. I think the donkey has to be raised with a flock to know what he is expected to do.
How cute!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, baby donkeys! How wonderful you were able to work with them in 2005. Donkeys are such beautiful creatures. There are several who live around here - one in a garden a few yards away.
ReplyDeleteI see two beautiful creatures!

ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love donkeys and they have been so badly treated over times.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very good cause to look after rescued animals. It must have been wonderful to work at this sanctuary.
