The nation reflects

.
Photos and some thoughts for Weekend Reflections, Shadow Shot Sunday, and Camera-Critters.
.
These ten days are an intense, emotional time for Israelis.
We go from somber Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Day to Remembrance Day for Israel's Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Enemy Actions and then immediately to Independence Day celebrations.
.
That's a lot for one little country just 63 years old.
.
Instead of birds atop flagpoles, we will soon see the national flag flying for the double holiday.
Flags are already starting to be displayed on homes, stores, and cars.
.
Meanwhile, have a peaceful Sabbath day. Shabbat shalom!

  1. I think having birds instead of flags on those poles is a rather cute idea!

    I HAD A LITTLE SHADOW
    (With apologies to Mother Goose)

    I had a little shadow
    No bigger than my thumb;
    I took him to the meadow
    And there I gave him rum.

    My drunken little shadow
    Did weave and bob and pitch;
    He stumbled from the meadow
    And fell into a ditch!

    An emotional time for Israel, indeed. So much sadness, so much joy.

  9. You have so many reasons to be proud of your nation. Here we will soon celebrate the WW2 Victory day and in years it turns into profanation which disturbs me. There is nothing much to unite the nation in our last 90 years history, so politicians use the only strongest item in full speed. Which completely devalues this great-great day..

  10. Sending the best greetings from Norway to Israel! I still hope that I get the Israeli flag in the balcony on Tuesday. Otherwise it will be at least some small inside and pita bread, hehe:-)
    I like the first picture very much.

  15. Yes, that's very intense, Dinah! Your country may be 63 years old legally, but as a people group you have been the oldest in history!! Honor to whom honor is due:)
