It lives! The blog lives!

.
Shalom again friends! The blog and I are back! We missed you!
I am in heaven again after a "week from hell."
No, not really; I didn't let my mood get that bad.

But it was disconcerting to see the screen (above) saying, "You are not the author of any blogs."
And elsewhere to see Blogger using ominous language like "This blog has been deleted."
And "Google has detected unusual activity on your account."

I imagined the worst -- hackers, connectivity issues, being locked out forever in blog exile. . .
I wrote to Google via their online support form and today, a week later, still no reply.
So I got down to work on it and with friends' patient help, regained my blog this afternoon!

Thanks, old friend Kay in Hawaii, who today published my e-mail to her about my blog problem.
Her "Musings" blog post is getting helpful comments.

Thanks to Israeli friend Robin of "Around the Island" blog for encouraging me and for accepting and forwarding my Verification Code from Google today. It was as easy as asking for this code to be sent in an SMS in order to get back in to my blog.
It is not easy, me not having a cell phone and having my home telephone out of order for weeks, plus having the Internet connection unreliable right now.

Thanks to blog-friends who got worried and e-mailed to ask.

Thanks to God who tested me and taught me lessons through this week's trial.
I never panicked but lived in hope; I did not slander Google/Blogger or Bezeq phone company or "curse them in my heart."
I kept the faith, knowing my labor of love of four years for the Holy City Jerusalem should not disappear.
I prayed for help.
God rewarded this attitude.

I am grateful for all of you!

oh Phew! I wrote to your Norwegian friend Spiderlady, as I saw photos of her on your blog, and asked if she knew what had happened. Boy, you had us worried. Could you post a "dummies guide for retrieving a blog" I'm sure there are a few people out there who could use it.
I am so delighted you are back, as I was slowly working my way through all your posts. Now i can get to know you a bit better:-) Kind regards from a tiny town in NZ.

Er, just a thought Dina, in case you don't do this already. I have the habit of writing my blog as a word document first, then cut and pasting it into the blogger dashboard. That way, if I lose an internet connection (or worse), my text isn't lost in cyberspace.

So glad you're ok! I was worried but didn't know your email. When I didn't see any mention of you at the few other photo blogs I visit I was concerned something had happened to you. Relief :)

Yay! So glad it all worked out - eventually - and you're back with us again! You seem to have handled it much better than I did when google locked me out of my account a few weeks ago. Hysterical screaming would have been an understatement...

Oh what joy ! Had a while ago the exact same problem, yet was able to find the sms possibility as well.

Currently: having some issues to comment on various sites which have their comment section placed beneath the post...

Once again, very glad I am. Please have a kind Sunday.

Oh what a RELIEF! Phew!!!

Welcome back. You're a better person than me. I regularly curse Telstra (phone company) for all sorts of reasons. I like sparrow's idea of a dummies guide - I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

Wow, I am so happy for you, Dina! Glad about the turnaround and that you are finally able to blog again. Hope you don't have to go through this again.

I'm so glad you're back! Yay! Kay and Robin were very resourceful. I wish I'd thought of that.

Regarding sparrow's suggestion: slowly but surely I've been saving each and every one of my posts as html files and putting them into folders on my hard drive. You never know.

I'll be interested to hear what the explanation is, if you ever get one. But most importantly, you're back!

Hello Dina,

I am glad you got back your blog. You must have been very frustrated when you could not access your blog. I went through the same frustration myself when I could not access my blog LIFE IN MOTION. I tried for many days and I could not get it back. So I started a new blog A MAN ON THE MOVE.

Wish you all the best,
Joseph

Dearest Dina, I've had a worried time wondering what had happened to you. I imagined the worst and felt distressed that I didn't have your email address to ask you if you were OK.
It's SO GOOD to have you back!
You've made my day!

Contining on sparrow's comment, I personally don't write my posts on Word first but one thing I do occasionally and I strongly recommend you do now if you've never done it before is save your blog on your computer. You can do that by going into the parameters of your blog and clicking on EXPORT BLOG.
Following your story I just did it again this morning !
:)

Wow, that's frightening. My blog doesn't have such noble ambitions, but I would be heartbroken if I'd lost it through an internet slip up. Glad your back and running Super glad to hear it's possible to keep one's cool.

HI again,

I read Kay's blog, and someone suggested another browser.

Maybe that had nothing to do with this problem after all but a couple of months ago after having had technical problems that were solved I ended by downloading two other browsers.
It is awesome, if I am having problems in one browser I can switch over and it works for me.
The other day I couldn't register on our local library's e library and the technician suggested switching browsers and it works.
So I have ie, google and firefox on my desk top.It takes minimal data just to have them there.
It really makes cyber life easier for me.

So happy you are with us again.

Dina, I'm so happy it was a google/blog error, I was concerned that something may have happened to you! Apparently blogspot is having problems right now...regret that you had to be a victim!

I believe I asked Robert if he knew what had happened to you!

You're back and that's great!

Good to see that there are wonderful people out there in blogland who can help out in situations like you have described, Dina!

Welcome back, Dina. Glad you weren't voluntarily deleted. How stark & final it all looked on this end!

All's well that ends well, though. Amen.

That happened to me recently ... I panicked. As soon as I was back on the air I backed up all of my blogs ... I was horrified to think that 5 years of posts had gone down the gurgler.

Praise the Lord! I am so glad that you are okay and that your blog is back safe and sound. I was very sad to see that it had disappeared. I thought that maybe you had just decided not to blog anymore. Anyway, I am so proud of you for keeping the faith!

Glad to see you're back! It must have been so frustrating, Dina.

The Internet and blogging are great when they work, but when they don't, you described it well: hell!

Glad you're back online!

I hadn't stopped by last week, a week full of doctors and snow and missed connections. This happens from time to time when something triggers Google to notice something happening that suggests something wrong with your account. They block the blog until they have verified that the account is okay so as to prevent hackers if it is not. Unfortunately, when you don't have a cell phone, it is more difficult to do the verification. I would probably have a problem myself since I have never sent a text.
