Mystery on Mt. Herzl

.
At the Mt. Herzl tram terminal today I was really curious about two young men.
Each was loaded down with backpacks, cables, and a strange Samsung instrument.
I assume, I hope, they were working for CityPass, the light rail company.

We got on the tram and the guy strapped the thing up on top, above his head, pointing to one of the doors. (Enlarge the photo to spot it on the left.)
I guess they are gathering statistics, hopefully in order to improve the service (it needs some improving).
I know I know, I should have just asked him what the camera (?) or whatever was and what it was for, but he was busy of the phone, writing down stuff, and eating chocolate and I hate to bother a man when he's working.
.
One nice thing about the tram: if you feel claustrophobic in the pressing crowd or if you get bored, you can always look up and space out with the funny reflections on the ceiling (for Weekend Reflections, of course).

  1. Maybe there'll be a blog showing all the people who got on and off the tram!

  2. Maybe it's surveillance for increased security? Cool ceiling reflections.

  3. You are right, to ask is always too easy!

  4. I hope he was working for CityPass too! I wonder why human creatures are so fascinated by reflections...I know I am! Always on the look out for a good one...like the one you captured!

  6. Especially if they're eating chocolate!

  7. I think with this post you've caused at least three young, single women to drop everything they were doing and move to Jerusalem.

  8. May be they were working, as you say, at statistics.
    Nice ceiling reflections!

  9. Is this the same light rail train you showed us last year in Oct. Dina, is it already needing a bit of fine tuning? I was going to say the same as Kay, never disturb anyone while they're eating chocolate haha!

  10. Jenny, that would be funny, especially if they ran it at double speed. Like ants scurrying in and out.

Pat, there already are security cameras in each of the two carriages. The driver can see everything in his tram.
Also there are security guards inside.

VP, yes, but if we knew, it would take away all the mystery.

    Theanne, indeed.

    Cloudia, come and ride.

    Kay, true!

    Petrea, haha, you're so right!

Pietro, let's hope they actually do something with the statistics.

Perth DP, yes, the same tram. Israel has but one. It started taking passengers last August but things are still not finished. Someday it will be faster and more frequent and maybe less crowded.

  11. What a nice set of photographs. I also enjoyed reading the post. Actually that was more interesting to me than the photography — a perfect marriage of the two — pictures and words.

  12. If you want a reflection - you can always find one - if you look for them - as you do :-)

PS Thank you for the comment - just spread the (non-verification) word :-)

  13. Very interesting, and I agree, you don't want to take the mystery out of it. If it's just for statistics, it wouldn't be as much fun to think about.
    Good work, Dina.

  14. I like the everyday atmosphere of the tram you captured in the second photo. The picture of the smiling young man is nice too.

I wish we had a survey like that on our commuter train. There are so many things that need improvement in our public transportation system.
