Houses from Within, Jerusalem, list now online!

.

The visitors standing in the narrow Ein Kerem lane were waiting for their chance to wind their way up through the fascinating old house and eventually emerge on the roof.
This was part of last year's annual  Jerusalem Houses from Within.

Above the front door was the event's poster.
That 2012 logo showed a bouquet of buildings.

The list of THIS year's Houses from Within guided tours just now went online--120 locations and the list is still growing!
If you are anywhere near Israel, mark your calendar for November 7-8-9.

A few venues require registration, which begins bright and early online on November 1.

Maybe your own city has a similar Open House event?
Check the date at http://www.openhouseworldwide.org/
In 2014  Athens,  Gdansk, San Diego, and Vienna will be joining this wonderful cultural tradition.

  1. A great idea! Here it is a problem to find a way to visit public structures like our fortresses, always closed!

  2. Wishing I was there.. Great idea. Open House has a different meaning here I think.

  3. What a great idea! It would be nice if some people made videos walk-throughs in some of the more interesting cities.

  5. Unfortunatelly I'm a little busy and I don't know if I can make it to the Lisbon Open House. Besides, the buildings I most wanted to visit among the 60 that will open doors to the public are already fully booked...

  6. Much better than basing everything on an IKEA catalogue!

  7. We have something similar here - though you don't have to book to get in, but it also only runs for a day (or maybe two.) So in someplace like Toronto, it is impossible to see the more than 100 buildings,

  8. I've never heard of this and haven't seen anything like it in Hawaii. I wonder if Chicago has something.

  9. That sounds like a wonderful tradition! Now I have to visit the website to find out if we're participating.
