Our star has risen! Today we Israelis celebrate sixty years of hard-won statehood, independence, and freedom.
In honor of Independence Day my next-door neighbor put up a flag pole and flags and even flashing colored lights. Last night the sky over Jerusalem was lit up with marvelous fireworks, and we had a good view from our village. Happy 60th birthday, dear country, and many more!

ReplyDeletethank you for your email and sending me the link to your blog. I'm sorry I couldn't visit Israel. If I ever will, I will visit you!
When I was in Jordan we heard a lot about the conflict.
When I read your blog, all I thought was: Freedom? Can you say that for a country that is at war ever since it got grounded? Is this really a celebration without any bitter tastes?
(This isss in no way ment as an attack, I was just wondering how you feel about that. I would like to learn mote about the subject.)
Beautiful! I want to visit Jerusalem again soon! My in-laws lived there for several years. My husband and I love it there.
