The olive trees here in the Jerusalem Hills have many tiny blossoms just now. Looks like this year it will be a good harvest in the fall.

Pictures of life in Jerusalem and the Jerusalem Hills. And since August 2013 also a look at the northern Negev, my new home.
Beautiful this olive blossoms!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an olive tree before.
Have you done anything with the olives? I do like green olives very much.
ReplyDeleteAnd all I see of olives are in jars...nice to see where they actually come from...
ReplyDeleteSend some olives this way!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see olivein their natural state before they find their way to my table, canned or jarred.
ReplyDeleteI heard a radio show once that explained the olive harvest in your region is very much a community event that brings people together.
ReplyDeleteOlive orchards have been started here in my county, since we have the climate for vinyards as well. Olive trees are so beautifully twisted as they grow old. Nice to be reminded of them.
The Jerusalem Hills have olive trees everywhere. The olives that I help harvest are on land of neighbor friends, nuns, actually. They pickle some of them and some get pressed for oil. You are all invited to come and pick in the fall. It takes weeks because they believe in picking each olive individually. The Arab method is to put a sheet under the tree and hit the branches with a stick until the olives fall to the ground.
ReplyDeleteThe sisters took me with to see the olives pressed at a monastery. I'll post about it.
Oh I like olives, never seen olive blossoms. Thanks for visiting, have a nice weekend.
