Here and there in the Holy Land

The letter for this ABC Wednesday group fun is H.

H is for hand.
The sound of one hand clapping.

Hands holding three pieces of a Canaanite's head. Humerus arm bone still in the ground.

Hands as a link of the generations.

H is also for hamburgers in the food court of Jerusalem's Central Bus Station.

Halva, the deliciously sweet confection made of ground sesame seeds, in Shuk Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem.

Heavily-armed horse on duty in the Palm Sunday pilgrim procession from Mount of Olives to the Old City.

Hanging blogger, sloth-like, showing grandson how. In Australia.

Happy H Day to all!
.

  5. I like that unique "knock-knock" (?) ;) on that door; and the sesame confection must be a delicacy - I'd love to try that.

This this set of photos are very telling about ordinary, day to day life, Dina. I like them.

  7. All of these photos are stories in themselves. That door knocker is beautiful.

It is funny to see MacDonald's spelled out in Hebrew...

    I had forgotten about halva...yummy!

Your sloth imitation is quite good. Did your grandson try it next?

  16. Thanks for your thoughts and reactions, dear readers new and old.

If I remember correctly, that door clapper was on the door of a church annex in the Muristan in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Petrea, your Zen Monday inspired me to publish the door knocker. It made me think of the Zen koan about the sound of one hand clapping.

    Ivar, now I understand! Thanks.

Howdy do, Abraham. Glad you like the horse. Some people are not happy when they see the mounted police on the street.

Eki and all, wish I could send you some halva. Eki, yes, as I learn from your blog, the ordinary street scenes often teach the most about a place.

Ahalan ya Suzanne. I know you CAN picture them all!

Sara, yes, funny to me too to see MacDonald's in Hebrew. To make it look similar, they even put in an apostrophe ' which does not exist in Hebrew grammar! And Your food blog is off to a delicious start!

Wil and all who asked about this slothful blogger--yes, it was me; and no, Dean did not try it (then). I think he was too much in shock from seeing Grandma hanging upsidedown from a limb. :)
