BUT . . . tonight, as we speak, Israel finally has Sir Paul McCartney singing at a grand concert in Tel Aviv!!
LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS
by The Beatles
Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she's gone
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Aaaaaah
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers
That grow so incredibly high
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore
Waiting to take you away
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds
And you're gone
. . .
From Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, 1967 (that wonderful year!)

ReplyDeleteI like that song and the photo is very appropriate. Thanks for the visit. I like the idea to sing "Sunrise, sunset"... at many festive occasions. I like "Fiddler on the Roof..

I have always loved that song. :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty photo to go along with it.
How fantastic that Sir Paul will be there.
ReplyDeleteA lovely photo. Happy SWF.
I almost hear the music here!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are always so clever that I have to think about it! Clever! (And I like the photo, too.)
ReplyDeleteYou realise that I'm now going to be humming that song for the rest of the day, don't you. Just as well I like it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song souvenir.
ReplyDeleteHello my friend Dina.(who publishes all even the embarassing moments. ha ha.)
ReplyDeletebeautiful birds. they remind me of the canada gease I see around my canadian city.Ilove to view them because they seem to be so carefree. I guess all birds could seem that way but the smaller ones seem to be more fragile and prone to disaster.but still beautiful.
When I think of Britain I think of the Beatles and fish and chips they put me into hysteria when I was a kid and I will never forget them. It is amazing how their fame lives on- these bands like U2 Pink Floyd the Rolling Stonesetc. They appeal to such a young crowd when they first come out and then they rock for years. Their flame doesn't die and yet they have such a young following at first. You would think that they would grow old with their original fans but they don't.
Iremember reading about Lucy in the Sky once. It sounds like he is drug tripping but he isn't. It was a child's drawings. does he have a daughter?
shalom.
Congratulations on the concert, and the nice way you tied it into the post and theme. I love the swans on the river, where ever that is.
ReplyDeleteDina: I do hope you have a joyious time if you go. I love the river and swan shot anyways.
ReplyDeleteI heard about that concert. Apparently it was very successful. I remember when Lucy in the Sky first came out. Sigh. Makes me feel old -- but then, I guess I am getting old.
ReplyDeleteI saw that on the news this evening - it's about time!
ReplyDeleteI love the Beatles. I'm so happy to have found your JDP blog. Beautiful idea & photo.
ReplyDeleteDina there are 3 shops just for chocolate that I know of and I'm sure there are more. I'll take you to the one in the photo, its got a cafe that serves hot chocolate, as well (I haven't tried the cafe).

ReplyDeleteMust have been fun. I sure do love the picture! And the fun.
ReplyDeleteMy love for this Beatles song betrays my age! It was a firm favourite when I was 17. How wonderful also to find a blog in Jerusalem. I spent a wonderful week there in 2001. I shall visit you again!
ReplyDeleteCool idea! I heard that on the news...they just needed to mention Skywatch, lol.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful tie-in with archaeology- it was Lucy in the sky with diamonds that the Leakeys named their fossilized Lucy after. Hope all's well with you Dina.
ReplyDeleteNice photos and interesting stories once again. :-)
