A future peace symbol

Meet my new next door neighbor!
It is one of those special white pigeons with feathers all down their legs.
Click and enlarge the photo to see the funny stockings.

I can't find the name in English. In Hebrew, they are something like Timberim, if I heard correctly.

My human neighbor (who is shy and shall remain headless here) is very inventive at building things and he loves animals. He built a dovecot, put it on his roof, bought a few pairs of the fancy white doves, added some nesting boxes, and now the babies hatched!
.
The adult birds are let out to fly every afternoon. A beautiful sight as they circle around in a group.

.
Come visit some of the animals of a hundred bloggers over at Camera-Critter Sunday.

  1. Very interesting little critter. I don't know a soul here who has a dovecote. That is interesting also, that your neighbor built one.

  4. I agree with Jedediah about how it looks! My brother and I raised pigeons, which are similar, when I was growing up, but we didn't have any with feathers on their legs.

  5. Your human neighbor sounds a lot like my brother, who loves birds and raises them too. As well as plants and gardens. And very shy.

    I do hope the neighborhood cats are not aware of these special birds.

  6. My cat is permitted "morning parole" walking outside of our dock's gate every morning;
    But I'm sure the circling doves are a much more beautiful sight.

    Thanks for placing that image in my head where it can erace that ugly fledgeling LOL!

    Aloha-

    I'm sure the little peace symbol will be a beauty when it's grown up!

  11. It's interesting to me how one post can mean different things to different people. For me, I was led to remember that St. Teresa of Avila would call her monasteries dovecots for the Lord. So this post had a special meaning for me.
