The birds and the bees

.
The "wildlife" sightings in my neighborhood for Camera-Critters were pretty tame today.
We had the birds and the bees, as usual.

The neighbor's pet pigeons were out for their daily exercise.
They are of a special breed with feathers on their legs and feet.
Remember the post on the ugly chick?

The bees were buzzing at the doors to their colorful bee boxes.

And a cat was preening on the shed roof as Jerusalem on the hill turned gold with the last rays of the Sabbath sun.
.
Another quiet Shabbat in the Jerusalem Hills.

  1. Shabbat Shalom, Dina (though it may be a little late in Israel time)...
I checked into your "ugly chick" post, and found that thing to be pretty cute for being so ugly. It is strange about the feathers on the legs and feet, but missing from parts of the body too.
Love the last bits of Shabbat light with the cat on the (cool tin?) roof.

PS -- I just realized the other day that JHDF was missing from my "Sparkling Gems" sidebar listing, but I've corrected it there... so you should see it pop to the top every time you post.

  2. Martha, thanks. Your cat in the scarf post is so funny. :)

David, Glad you liked the feathery pigeons. Actually, the cat is on a warm asbestos roof. Most of the old asbestos roofing in the village has been replaced by healthier materials.
Thanks, Jerusalem Hills is honored to be in your sidebar.
Yes, it is dark already here, so we can start to say shavua tov, a good week, to you. Strange how Shabbat always seems to be the shortest day.

  5. I remember you posting about those birds before. They're really quite unusual. I'm looking out my window and looking at our electrical lines. It's got pigeons sitting on it, too. They're waiting for my neighbor who feeds them every morning.

  7. Jerusalem pigeons are prettier than California pigeons. I'll have to post some pictures of our bee hive boxes. A belated Shabbat Shalom to you, Dina.
