Sweet n' sour notes

.
See his tools on top and tool bag below?
Yes, it's a real piano tuner!
.
He was tuning--Lord knows why--in a little side hall of last week's big Jerusalem International Book Fair.
But he couldn't get much work done. Just in the few minutes I stood there and photographed, one woman after another stopped him and asked some questions.
They must have out-of-tune pianos at home, because he gave them his card.

  3. It does seem a funny place to tune a piano but he seemed to drum up lots of business.

  4. We have a piano that has not been tuned for at least ten years - maybe he could help?

  5. I have a digital piano which never needs tuning, but the flipside is it's just not quite the same sound

  7. It can't be easy to tune a piano in an open place like that with people coming and going....I would think it difficult to hear the vibrations. I am honored to say hello to an Israeli piano tuner every few months; he comes to tune the musician's piano here at our house....he moved to California in the past couple of decades...he and the musician love to talk about music....

  8. Interesting. The piano tuner is so important, the sound of the piano may change very much depending on the tuning.

  10. A beautiful blog, and lovely shots. Thank you so much for visiting me in cottage country, Ontario! I ought to get the piano tuner in, too. But haven't been playing much lately. We spent an hour and a half shoveling show today. sigh.
    It was good exercise!
