Sun-induced somnolence

.
Lara, my favorite feline, enjoying the springtime sun on the woodpile.

Eyes half-closed, she is half-asleep, simply resting and absorbing the warmth (the warmth of the sunbeams and of my friendship).

Hebrew has a nice expression for that state of not-quite-asleep: nim ve-lo nim.

.
Yet another Lara post for Camera Critters meme.

  1. Oh, she's a pretty one! Feeling a bit like her today, much to do and no time for a siesta.

  6. Spacedlaw, Lara gets a thick fur coat for winter, but a lot of it thins out for the summer.

  8. Eki, Lara was born wild. But she and her daughter come to a certain house in the neighborhood (not mine) almost everyday for food and petting.

  10. She's lovely, Dina. And of course cats are solar-powered, but I'm glad she has friends.

  12. I must remember that the next time I'm in a state of nim ve-lo nim Dina, I think pussy cats are the masters of this, they always find the best spots to slumber!

  13. Nice capture!
IN Greek there is also an expression for this state of semi-sleep - "Laghokoimamai" - to sleep like a hare!

  14. I also thought if your cat is a wild cat with this amazing fur and eyes!
She is clever, this is a nice spot to enjoy the sun.
