The sun disappears into the Jerusalem Hills behind my neighbor, St. John in the Desert monastery. Shabbat shalom to the Brothers and to all of you.

Many more Sky Watch Friday photos from around the world await you at Wiggers World.

  2. Dina, this skyline is just wonderful, I love the way your eyes first see the glorious colours, and then have to dig deeper to explore the fascinating profiles of the buildings. I'd love to see inside that dome, any chance of a picture, or is it not allowed?

  3. Shalom Steven and Aisha in the Philippines. The Jewish Sabbath, or Shabbat in Hebrew, starts at sundown Friday and ends after sunset Saturday. The traditional greeting and blessing we say to one another is "Shabbat shalom," meaning may the special peace of the Sabbath be with you.

Glad you have joined Sky Watch Friday.

  4. Hi Suzi-k, Hmm, well said. (Wish I had thought of that, ha.)
I'll go down the hill and get some inside pictures of the church for you and post them next week. It's allowed.

  26. hello dina, i think we all need to learn about our history, but some people in my town remain blind to the past, thinking only of the present (what we can get, what we can eat - i'm sure you have a jewish phrase for something similar)

  27. This is gorgeous, Dina. Thanks for this.

Thanks also for your comment on my Thursday Thirteen post. I welcome the opportunity to experience (or observe) worship the way other faiths practice it. It's always enriching--and delightful to be welcomed into the experience.
