A taxing summer

Yay, we are spared the dreaded threatened 16.5% tax on fresh fruit and vegetables!
No less than 34 (!) readers around the world felt they had to join the protest by leaving a strong comment on my post of a week ago. Thank you! Our prime minister must have heard you.
.
Ynet News quotes him as saying:
"Part of my job is to listen to the public, said Netanyahu, "And I've come to the conclusion that this is not the time for a new VAT and this is my decision."
.
Good listening, Bibi.

  6. Good news with a beautiful picture, Dina.
About our sudden tax of 1992 on the current accounts, many people still call it "the robbery"! :-)

  7. Cheaper fruit and veg will save more money than raised by the tax on them.

  9. Thank goodness, Dina! Fresh food is NOT where the taxes should go. Cigarettes and hard liquor would be my choice.

  10. A tax on fresh fruits and vegetable would have been pretty bad. In a way it would have helped obesity. It would have been cheaper for the people who could not afford to buy fresh food to buy more starchy food, so we must rejoice that the tax did not pass.
