Have you ever seen a fish tank hanging on the wall?!
I had never even heard of a wall aquarium.
Yesterday I saw my first one, right in the shopping center part of Hadassah Medical Center.
Enlarge the photo once or twice and see the reflected shops and tables of merchandise in the hallway.
I should have taken a picture from the side.
You would see that the narrow waterway for those poor fish must be less than two inches from front to back.
The poor things just swim back and forth, back and forth. What a life.
Today I consulted a friend who is a professional aquarium builder, and he said it is OK as long as the fish are small ones and the quality of their water is good.
He said Hadassah has installed many of these in the hospital wards.
I guess watching fish is calming, but for me to see these fish confined in such a narrow place only angered me.
I hope fish don't feel claustrophobia. I wonder if they can see reflections?

Well it is a painting very rare, and always in motion, wich is priceless for some human beings... I just wonder if the fishes are really happy in such narrow space.
ReplyDeleteA "moving painting"! Tsuki is right, it's the firt thing coming to mind..
ReplyDeleteI've seen something similar.. sure, some think it's great, I do not like it.
ReplyDeleteHope they can see reflections and I see you and your camera.
Original but very, very strange...
ReplyDeleteNice, great reflection post!
ReplyDeleteNever seen anything quite like it. I had a few fish in a round bowl/tank once (thirty years ago)... I wonder which the fish would prefer if they were presented with the choice...
ReplyDeleteWell, a lot of fishy stuff on telly... Wonder what the fishies think about being part of a wall.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha. Good one.
ReplyDeletethe fish do a good job of calming everyone.
ReplyDeleteAloha to YOU from Waikiki

It's beautiful, but I am glad I am not a fish. I once heard that a representative of "the Party for Animals"said that the government should forbid the sale and use of fishbowls, because it is depressing for fish to swim round and round. BTW "The Party for Animals " is one of the +/- twenty political parties which are represented in the Second Chamber of Parliament in the Hague.Almost half of them have one or more representatives in Parliament.Sometimes the Animalparty has a point and then we can agree with them. They are right that it is cruel to put cattle in overcrowded trucks and transport them for several days without food or drink. Well in that case our government listens and takes measures.
ReplyDeleteNice photo, but poor fish...
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day, Dina.
wow. that IS really skinny!
ReplyDeleteI've seen wider aquariums set into walls. two inches is very narrow.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful but I also wonder if it may be too small.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm with you on this one. It seems way too confining.
ReplyDeleteI love aquariums and used to have one when I was young. However, mine was a regular sized aquarium and nothing as narrow as this.
ReplyDeleteMore relaxing than a TV! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, people, us, supposed to be 'humans' are so unfare. Just like here, there is a law on cruelty to animals, but it's so biased for dogs, as chickens, pigs, etc are transported in the hot, tight containers to the place they will be killed!
ReplyDeletecan't say how they feel inside , but I feel refreshing
ReplyDeleteSnapshot
we used to have an aquarium when I was a kid. It was vert relaxing, bit this? Way to narrow. Nice picture, bad aquarium.
ReplyDeleteNever seen anything like it. Very interesting, but poor fishes.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, Dina.
Oh dear! I haven't seen anything like this. Sad...
ReplyDeleteThere's something like this at my doctor's office. Poor fish - using living things as decorations seems cruel.
ReplyDeletemagnifique acquarium vraiment !
ReplyDeleteOur Chinese restaurant has such an aquarium included in the wall. Nice to watch but yes, poor fish...
ReplyDeleteI like the reflections, so I can see your shopping mall :-)
Liebe Grüße,
Pia
How cool! I love aquariums :).
