I was delighted to see ibex wandering free right next to the Midreshet Ben-Gurion building I showed you yesterday!
Right behind them is the main street of Kibbutz Sde Boker.
There were three young ones and several adult ibex with curved horns.
Actually the kibbutz is home to Ben-Gurion's Tomb National Park.

So nice! I love them;-)
ReplyDeleteShofar on the hoof :-) (I know it's actually a ram's horn)

They are very distinctive looking animals!
ReplyDeleteI would not have encountered an angry ibex - look at those horns!
ReplyDeleteRuneE, yeah, really! I had instinctively put out my hand and started calling the ibex when I saw them. Then, when that big male came over to within two meters of me, I looked at his horns and at my camera and thought, that's close enough buddy.
ReplyDeleteAmazing to see these fantastic animals free!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an ibex roaming free...
ReplyDeleteIt looks like they didn't beg for treats, which is a good sign that people haven't been feeding them. (That makes for fat, lazy ibex.)
ReplyDeleteThis is fun. I haven't been to a zoo in such a long time. Now I wish we'd taken a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo while we had the chance. Ah well... next year.
ReplyDeletePretty cool to see them out and about! We only see them in a zoo here!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW! How cool is that? Just like all of the deer we have around here. Fearless.
