Looking out from the grave

.

Looking out from the ancient Canaanite shaft tomb they had been excavating, workers come up for some fresh(er) air and a coffee break.
They were two of my forty Arab colleagues at the Holyland Park dig in Jerusalem in 2008.

I miss those good old days of digging at the Canaanite graveyard. See more posts about our finds and our fun here.

The worldwide group of City Daily Blog bloggers are now posting for Dec. 1 Theme Day: Looking Out.
Take a look!

Archaeology must be fun! At least watching it and reading about it.

Perfect shot for today and an historic spot for archaeological digs.

As I have always had an interest in archaeology, that is a good choice for the theme Dina!

Brilliant shot for the theme! In my next life I'm definitely coming back as an archeologist!

A great contribution to the "Looking-Out" theme day Dina. I'm sure these workers were very happy to be taking a coffee break while looking out.

Don't you think you might like to take part in something like this again? I could see Art wanting to get right in there digging.

Shalom friends, thanks for all your nice comments.

Kay, I hope to dig again, although there is not as much work available down here in the Negev. Jerusalem has many digs ongoing all the time.

I have always admired archaeology for what it covers up. I think each time we Americans bury somebody that some archaeologist in some future age will dig us up and make a fantastic discovery.

Being an archaeologist must have been a lot of fun. When I think of archaeology I think of Indiana Jones :)

I thought it was just a hole in the ground. But it's a tomb. Wonderful choice for theme day. They look like they're enjoying their coffee.

I guess digging must be so thrilling! No wonder you miss it, Dina.

Archeologists "out to lunch" or coffee, that is!
Such a great picture, love it!

I worked in Rome, lots to do with archeology.

Happy New Year,
