An erstwhile bug-eating buddy

.
Here is my erstwhile little buddy on the wall, near the ceiling.
He (or she) is quiet and eats mosquitoes.
In short, a good housemate.
The little one comes and goes; now you see it, now you don't.

But one day, I, barefoot, picked up something from the bathroom floor and was startled to see the creature there instead of safely on the ceiling. Eek! I reacted by scooping him up and setting him outside on the front stair.
Now I kind of regret my harsh action . . .

  2. There's something nice about lizards.

  3. The lizards used to really creep me out - until I realized that they eat all those bugs. Now we happily coexist, though I prefer that they take the outside of the house and leave me the inside.

  5. I think we call them gekkos. Spiders eat bugs, too but I prefer the gekkos.

  6. Twobarkingdogs, I'm fond of them, but only on the ceiling, not underfoot.
    Koala, you're right.

Robin, aw come on, let one in ...

    Snap, yep!

Kay, you know, I even let a resident spider keep a web in the corner of my bedroom/living room, to catch any bugs.

  7. Never seen a lizard of any sort out here... it's strange to see them running wild like that.
I would only see them in pet stores and that's it. Kids love them and have fun watch them happily munching on bugs...

  8. I would never walk around with bare feet ever again if that happened to me!

  9. We don't have those where I live. That would take some getting used to.

    Thanks for sharing.

  10. Given that it is a reptile that you moved, «Louis» thinks you did the right thing... «Louis» doesn't do reptiles....

  13. We call the geckos in Hawaii. Killing them brings bad luck, I am told.

  15. It's good the gekko's tail didn't stay squirming in your hand!
We had lots of them in the bures in Fiji when we were there on vacation. They make a high pitched trilling noise.

  17. We called this little one a "tchischak" in Indonesia! He was our frienly lizard who caught mozzies.

  18. The lizard is a skink. I think I have spelled that correctly. We have them here in the Houston area. They eat bugs and the one bug I appreciate them eating is the roaches. I haven't had to spray the house for roaches in years. Mostly I see them at night around the outside of the house.
