Singing on the path of Life

.
While you are reading today's post, which is for Robert's PsalmChallenge, please click here and enjoy the singing of verses 1 and 11 of Psalm 16.
.
The song is one of many created at the Taize monastic community in France.

PSALM 16
1. A michtam. Of David.

Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.

2 I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.” 3 I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

.

4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.

I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.

5 LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.

6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. 7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.

8 I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, 10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.

.

11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

  1. That's a pretty path photo. Looks like a lovely place to walk.

You know I take issue with some of these verses, but I believe in the individual's right to believe as they choose as long as they don't infringe on the rights of other individuals to believe as theychoose, and it makes me glad that these verses give comfort to so many.

  3. Thank you for sharing the Taize music...so gently lovely and assuring...what better words with which to start the day? Especially, for me personally, this particular Sunday. Thank you for your good wishes. And hag sameach to you too, for Pesach.

  4. Vers 11 fasst alle wunderbar zusammen:

"Du tust mir kund den Weg zum Leben: Vor dir ist Freude die Fülle und Wonne zu deiner Rechten ewiglich."

    Finden wir diesen Weg.

  6. Petrea, don't forget that the psalmist was talking about the idol worshipers of his day. They had some very cruel rituals, including sacrificing babies to Moloch.

Zakton, the wild grasses are already waist high now. Soon they will all dry up and turn brown.

Sara, glad you like the song too.

    Dawn Treader, thank you!

Uwe-Jens, vielen Dank. It is fun to see German again.

Hi Kay, thanks and same to you!

  8. Thank you very much for your being, entry as well.

Have to admit, that I did not know that before. Interesting and a joy for the sense of sound indeed.

Feels as if as life sometimes hasn't changed much, when it comes to the challenge of 'idols, things to belive in'.

Thank you once again for this wonderful entry of yours very much. Please have a good start into the Holy Week; and please join again soon.

  12. Hello beautiful Dina, this last photo is beautiful to celebrate the lord of light.

I enjoyed Palm Sunday. I went to a french church next to my new highrise apartment. It is the oldest church in Edmonton,it is only 100 years old!!!nothing like old in Jerusalem!
It was a nice meditation to consider how the children held palms to welcome Jesus into Jerusalem and this is why international youth day is during this week.
    Thanks for this beautiful post.
    shalom love and light.
