Jack, jackal

.
For my letter J post for ABC Wednesday you are expecting something about Jerusalem, Jews, Judah, Jeremiah, Jonah, or Jesus, right?

Nope. It is . . .

just a jack. A simple scissor jack.
.
I was surprised to see this car on the little old road at the far end of the moshav (village), near the spring.
It was evening, getting dark; no one was in sight.

Where was the driver? Where was the fourth wheel?

It was an eerie sight for me, having never changed a tire on my own.
I headed home, glad to be on foot, meeting only two jackals crossing the road.

  4. Very scary to lose a tire. I just had mine balanced yesterday because I'm going to drive up to the mountains next week.
I don't think I've ever changed a tire by myself, but I've helped, and I've had help. I'm glad flat tires are not as common as they used to be.

  7. Neat jack with a shoe :)

About the enlarging blog photos - maybe it hs to do with what template you have? Mine is a really old one and so far it seems the photos on my blog can still enlarge, though who knows for how much longer.

  11. It's not that hard to change a tire. A hassle, admittedly, and I've never had to do with with two kids in tow! But not impossible.

I wonder where the car's owner was.

  13. Gattina, here near Jerusalem those J-words just come with the turf, whether the blogger is religious or not. :)

Everyone, jackals are nice! I love meeting them. They won't hurt people.
Click on my label "jackals" to see and HEAR them.

Petrea, you changed a tire? I'm impressed!
I'm glad not to have a car.

Crystal, thanks for the term brake shoe.
My template is ancient, so that is not the problem. I read that Blogger might be doing a random beta thing with this new (and BAD) way of viewing our blog photos. Be happy you are not one of the victims.
I think it is a JavaScript thing called Lightbox, about which Wikipedia says
"compatibility problems have been identified with versions of Lightbox, in particular when displaying larger images on Firefox or Opera. . . . Many users have also noted that there is a lack of compatibility across the Internet Explorer range of browsers, and in particular, the newly released Internet Explorer 9. However, many times the compatibility issues can be attributed to users not reading the documentation on how to make lightbox function correctly in these browsers."

I wish Blogger would stop making these "improvements."

  16. Is THAT what it is? They're trying it on me, I guess. It looks just like Facebook, which I dislike more than ever. I wonder why all these different sites keep trying to be just like each other when it's their differences that make them interesting?

  17. hee hee...
An unexpected - but perfectly appropriate - "J" entry!

  18. I hope the jackals are NOT something dangerous for you when you're walking home in the evening.
