Nice how this (I think former) B'nai B'rith office utilized their menorah logo on and above the door.
Nice for Monday Doorways meme.
The B'nai B'rith World Center in Jerusalem is the hub of B'nai B'rith International's activities in Israel, and I think that office is a few blocks away, on King David Street.
As an international humanitarian organization, B’nai B’rith International is opening its disaster relief fund to help victims of the worst drought to hit East Africa in more than 50 years.
It will support projects in cooperation with the Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief.
Some 11 million people in Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia are in dire need of humanitarian relief.
The Horn of Africa sounds like a different world a million miles away.
But if you look on the map, it is just a bit south of Israel, just a boat ride down the Red Sea.

Let there be rain!

Very clever incorporation of the Torah in the door.
ReplyDeleteBnai Brith does an amazing amount of good work and certainly the help is needed in Africa.
A very welcome contribution to Monday Doorways.
The door way is impressive...and THANK YOU to B'nai B'rith for help the African people!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful door with a menora!
ReplyDeleteAfrica seems so far away, but it`s close to you. Would like to sail down the Red Sea some day:-)
Bnai Brith is a superb organization...interesting as one looks at the map how many of those countries do not recognize Israel and do not allow Jews to live and work within their borders!
ReplyDeleteI like the doorway, about the rest I have my own ideas which are better kept to myself.
ReplyDeleteit's good that you've included a map.:p interesting design of the doorway.
ReplyDeleteheartwarming to read about reaching out to others
ReplyDeleteGreat looking door. I am glad to send you this award: http://irinapictures.blogspot.com/2011/10/awarded.html
ReplyDeleteIt is an impressive doorway and photo. And wonderful that the B'nai B'rith is helping to support the disaster relief in Africa.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting how much symbolism goes into the architecture in Israel.
ReplyDeleteA long drought is a terrible thing, when the earth crumbles to dust before you, wells run dry, your animals die and humans starve and die as well. It is good to see that relief organisations in the region step in to reach out a helping hand.
ReplyDeleteDownunder in Australia the drought broke with a vengeance last summer - with unparalleled flooding! I hope your rain comes soon - but a little less tempetuously!
ReplyDeleteGreat that the world is helping Africa. It's daily news in my country too. All kind of organizations are trying to raise funds for the enormous problems caused by drought. The B'nai B'rith is doing very important work.
ReplyDeleteThe door you showed us, is unique and beautiful!
That's a beautiful door. I'm glad there are organizations helping the people of Africa. It's all so tragic!
