For PsalmChallenge, centered at Daily Athens blog, here are selected verses of Psalm 28, the ones that I like to think are illustrated by the photo of my grandson Dean.
. . .
Dean made the shofar out of a goat's horn.
Incredibly, at his tender age (this was a few years ago), he made soul-stirring sounds.
There is a little video of him blowing the shofar.

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is this Friday evening until Saturday night.
May everyone be sealed in the Book of Life.

ReplyDeleteThank you for this wonderful entry very much. Please have you all a good new week and please join again soon.
I see band or orchestra in Dean's future....
ReplyDeleteI usually find most symbolic elements of religious practice to be all symbolism and not much substance. But the shofar sound goes through the centre of the heart. It works!
ReplyDeleteLong life!
Dean is so sweet Dina. Unfortunately he lives so far so you cannot cuddle him each time you would but I hope you can meet him as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteI wish you peace and happiness always. Dean is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing sound Dean made with the shofar Dina, he is a gorgeous little boy, you must be so proud of him. I really enjoy reading about your many religious happenings. I think it would be marvelous to switch off all communications for a day and have peace.
ReplyDeleteThat is really impressive - way to go kiddo!
ReplyDeleteGmar hatima tova Dina.

ah Dina, this has to be the most beautiful image on the internet right now.-also with the caption that this is a shofar. this gives it such spiritual depth.
ReplyDeleteAh and he looks so beautiful in his prayer shawl -his sky blue eyes matching.a child's prayer is the most poignant.
It is almost as if he has the power of sounding a supplication for the entire planet.
Yes wow did he ever sound miraculously wonderful in sounding the shofar when he was younger.I agree it has a heart rending sound.
well little boys have alot of energy but it is channelled spiritual energy..yes it is in his blood...
may God bless him and be his shield and strength.
thankyou beautiful Dina.
Very impressive, Dina.
