Not for jumping on

.
Walk across Safra Square, the Jerusalem Municipality complex, and be surprised!

The pillow sign said "Touch me"  so right away I touched it, only to discover, rather sheepishly,  that it was hard as rock.
Only then did I see the rest of it:
Concrete cushion installation  -- Smadar Carmeli

Around the corner there were more.
A whole plaza of deceptive cushions!

Here is a little video of the installation being set up and enjoyed.
Even Mayor Barkat tries out a cushion.

  1. thanks for sharing the video! how creative and joyous the cement (or is it concrete? I'm never sure.) pillows look! I noticed different aged people were enjoying sitting on them.

  2. What funny idea. Would look indeed much better if concrete would wear alike.
Yes, way too inviting to jump from one to the other though ;)

  8. They certainly look soft and cushiony. And if I'm not mistaken (?), I seem to recall that the Hebrew word for "soft" sounds a lot like "rock" which I always found intriguing. It seems to fit these whimsical cement sculptures perfectly.

  9. Friends, I love your comments here. What fun!

Sara, that's great how you played with the Hebrew here. Right, in Hebrew "rach (or rakh)" means soft.

Norma, cement is the powder that comes in 60-pound bags. After carrying a few at Heifer Ranch with the last of my strength, I will never forget which is cement and which is concrete. ;)
