The city of God

.
Psalm 87

1. Of the Korachites. A psalm.
A song, its foundation on the holy mountains.

2. The LORD loves the gates of Zion, more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3. Of you glorious things are spoken, O city of God.   Selah.

4. I recall Rahab and Babylon to those who acknowledge Me; behold: Philistia and Tyre, with Nubia―“This one was born there.”

5. But of Zion, it is said, “Every single person was born in it.” He, the Most High, establishes it.
6. The LORD records in the census of peoples: “This one was born there.”   Selah.

7. And they, singing as they dance: “All my roots are in you.”

Translation: Rabbi Benjamin J. Segal.

  1. It occurs to me , Dina that you would be an awesome rabbi or priest. When I say priest, I mean either Christian or Buddhist.

  2. Oh gosh, Kay, thank you. It's true that I greatly admire good rabbis and priests and ministers, but I could never be one.
I do better at listening than talking.
BTW, are there even females priests in Buddhism?

  3. Wonderful pictures Dina. And how cool that we had the same picture from the bar mitsvah. Wonder if it's the same man?

  4. Shalom Dina, thank you for the photo of the Zion gate! And the men making a joyful noise, carrying their blue and white balloons...one of them made it all the way over to Tania's post too. Have a wonderful week.

  6. The gate looks like an adventure as well. Wonderful, that one can still touch, walk on and through history.

Impressive that history and culture are kept that strong alive. In the capital city; over here, as far as I have seen so far, none alike.

Thank you for this great impressions from your environment once again, and your kind participation. Please have a good new week ahead.

  8. Gorgeous shots all! The do-not-enter signs outside the gate made me smile, too - that seems very poignant, somehow :)

  10. The walls were of a great fortress once - but even greater as the city of the Lord. It looks mighty as a homage to him...
