Theotokos

.
Theotokos in Greek means "God-bearer." This is what Eastern Orthodox Christians and Greek Catholics call Mary.

"Theotokos of Vladimir" is the name of this well-known, much-loved very old icon.

theotokos is a fake T word - the letter in Greece is represented by Θ
- but it was worth a try!

Maybe we should make a Greek alpha beta Wednesday in addition to ABC Wednesday for you purists, Kiwi. hehe But you are right, of course.
Is today your Ascension Day?

beautiful photos, the icon against the texture of the wall plus the lighting is especially beautiful.
