Clouds over Ein Gedi

.

An ibex in the clouds.

For SkyWatch Friday--today's sky over the Judean Desert!

A friend and I took the bus down to the Dead Sea this morning.

Just 65 minutes out of Jerusalem and we were in Ein Gedi.
We hiked up and down in two different canyons for seven hours.
The Wilderness of Judea is so beautiful!

  2. Great photos. That really looks like a desert, very dry. The ibex is fascinating, we have bighorn sheep in our mountains and they will climb anywhere.

  7. Like the composition of the 2nd one with the road drawing your eye into the shot. I love deserts - I'm strange that way - there's something clean about them. What's the cute animal?

  10. Love the starkness of the landscape. My favourite pic, though, has to be the one with the ibex -- king of his mountain . Why is that goats always want to stand on the highest point?

  12. From your photos, it surely looks like a great place to enjoy desert nature and have a bit of adventure.

SEVEN hours? That's a lot of walking and hiking for one day. It's a good exercise though. And I'm sure it's not as tiring as it sounds. I mean with all those fascinating displays the nature has to offer, seven hours would just feel like a moment.
