Thatch

Everyone was so interested in yesterday's thatched roof down in En Gedi, so here is a picture with more detail.

Kibbutz En Gedi has a huge date palm plantation (and mango trees too), so there is no lack of material for the the big "umbrellas."

  2. Palm roofs are still quite common in the Philippines (not in Manila though), but this is probably the biggest one I've seen yet!

  5. It's less dense than I'd realised but very beautiful. I'd thought it was unique when I first saw it and surprise myself by being disappointed there are many of them. I ought to be pleased!
