Burning!

.
A forest fire is burning just outside two sides of my village!
It started down in the valley, near our spring and spread to Hadassah hospital.
Cars were damaged in the Hadassah parking lot before the fire could be controlled.

The neighboring moshavim/villages up on the mountain were being evacuated as of 3:00.

I walked closer to take pictures and could see the flames and hear the shouts of the fire fighters in the forest right above the gate to our moshav.
They have such pitiful old equipment.
Two planes are helping.
But now there is a new moked, a new fire starting up near Kennedy Memorial and Khirbet Sa'adim.
This in the photo is where I take walks in the evening. Our beautiful nature is now black and smoldering.
The buildings on top of the hill are the periphery of my village, near my house. The fire came that close!
.
Over 500 dunams of natural woodland have been destroyed in the past few hours.
.
It is a hot and windy day.
Pray for us!
.
UPDATE: Now, at 8:30 p.m., things seem quiet and under control, thank God.
Radio is now saying it burned 1000 dunams (= 247 acres) of trees (mostly planted by the Keren Kayemet/Jewish National Fund).
Careless, thoughtless visitors to our spring caused this emergency by making a bonfire. grrrr!

  3. I pray for the safety of all in the fire's path....and for the success of the firefighters. We know all about fires here in Southern California.

  5. grrrr indeed! Heartbreaking. I hope this is it for you.

Our one year anniversary is coming up for the Station Fire that took out what I estimate at two thirds of our mountain. We are still not allowed back in. Makes me sick

  7. I just read about the fire and rushed here. Glad to hear you're okay. The news article I read also said that two villages were evacuated but that no one was hurt so far. Terrible about the trees and homes though.

    I'm growling along with you.

  8. «Louis» is glad to read that you are OK. This reminds him of the Oakland Hills Fire which was very, very destructive.

  9. I pray that you and everyone is safe. The lost vegetation will come back, human life won't. I'm thankful that you and the sisters are safe, please be careful.

  10. No idea as I cant see the photos because of filtering. As I wrote on Aysesul blog this is the most important reason to not updating my blog and visting other's blogs...I've became despondent of that!

  11. It's a very sorrowful sight. I van imagine that you are all devastated. The fires we had recently took several days to extinguish. It was arson, for it started in various places at the same time in the dunes. It is so frightening for the inhabitants of the neighbourhood.
Did you see the Australian forest that were burnt by fires.
I hope and pray that this will stop now in your country. I hope that there will soon be new plant life in those forests.
