Mega mister

.
Israel is starting our 4th straight week of ridiculous temperatures averaging ten degrees C above the normal.
.
At Yardenit, near the Sea of Galilee, it was well above 43 C or 109 F in the shade; so the management turned on a big mister fan for the poor tourists.
I think that's what you call it.
It made shpritzim in a huge wind.

Blogger friend Robin* started a meme called Summer Stock Sunday.
The theme is activities and memories of summer.
I think the hottest August in recorded history is what we Israelis will remember about the summer of 2010.
.
Wish I had that huge misting fan at home . . .
.
*Robin and her family drove up to visit my village last April. That was a sweltering day too, but fun to meet them for the first time.

  1. Sorry about your weather right now, Dina. I wish you could be here. The temperature is pretty temperate over here. My mother just hung her laundry outside but there's a dark heavy cloud looming in the distance.

  3. We have had more mixed weather in France. I wonder if such outside fans are effective.

  4. That looks like a nice place to be, but that heat is beyond anything I could take.

  5. It's insane. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we are probably having our coldest - or one of the coldest - summers on record. A little warmth sounds good, but I don't envy you in 109F!

  8. Hi my dear and shavua tov! First thanks again for all the great tips♥ Oh my it is really hot hot hot...... I normally never complain about the heat but this year!!!!! Instead of a misting fan I use the Evian water spray (you can buy it in April cosmetics stores - a bit expensive but worth it) and then I turn on the fan LOL. It works. HUGS♥

  10. Melbourne rarely gets above 36c in summer, seeringly dry and hot enough, but not impossible to survive. But last year global warming went insane and we had one tragic day of 47c. Almost 200 people died plus thousands of animals, homes and farms were burnt to smithereens.

Don't underestimate the tragedies of global warming! If Israel is getting hotter each summer, make sure you take it very seriously and prepare in advance. Be safe!

  11. Here in Piedmont we had a terrible hot July: more than 40° C perceived, and great humidity. Now August is good.

  13. 43ÂșC? Too much, hope it will get cooler soon. Here we're having ten degrees less and that is just fine now.

  15. I have wonderful memories when I was in the Sea of Galilee, but it wasn't that hot and there was a nice breeze.

I'm not sure that fan was doing the tourists any good unless you happened to be standing right in front of it.

I hope things cool down for you!
