Jerusalem Day

A sparrow among the Herodian stones of the Western Wall, the heart of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem was divided during the War of Independence and nineteen years later was reunited as a result of the June 1967 Six Day War. Today is Jerusalem Day, a national holiday created to mark the reunification. Anyway, this is the official description from the Knesset website.
How does this little Jerusalemite bird feel? Sheltered, having found a little place to call home. At other times, pressed between a rock and a hard place.
Our--Jerusalem's-- past history weighs heavy; the near future is laden with unknowns and uncertainties.

From Psalm 122
"I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord!' . . .
Jerusalem, built as a city which is bound firmly together. . .
PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
'May they prosper who love you!
Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers!'
For my brethren and companions' sake I will say 'Peace be within you!'
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your good."

I do often worry about you and just hope that peace comes soon.

  2. This is one of the favourite psalms in our family. In our concentrationcamp in Java my mum found great comfort in its neighbour: psalm 121. "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills"I hope that the hills of Jerusalem will see the help of God and find peace at last.
