Fun in the sun

.
Israeli blogger Robin of Around the Island invites us all to share scenes of summer tonight and every Saturday night.
.
These young religious girls were having the time of their life singing and splashing in Jerusalem's Lions Fountain!

Even "swimming" in the shallow water!
It was a super-hot day in the city, and I was a bit envious.
The lion is the symbol of Jerusalem. This fountain was a gift from German Chancellor Helmut Kohl to Jerusalem.
The dove of peace perches atop the Tree of Life. In this picture a real bird was drinking water from the statue-bird's mouth.
Sprouts on the tree symbolize the branching of three Abrahamic faiths from a single root. And indeed, you often see Arab kids splashing in the water next to their Jewish "cousins."

  1. What a great way to beat the heat - I'd have been tempted to hop right in with them!

Would that we could all get along as well as the children splashing in the fountain - no one is born hating, we have to learn it as we go :(.

  2. With the heat here I could easily jump into a fountain myself!

  3. That was a nice gift of the chancellor! The lion seems to be a symbol in the coat of arms of several countries - Holland and France come to mind...

  4. I thinks it's great that they get to take a dip and enjoy the fountain.

  6. I think one would be arrested if they tried this in a Los Angeles City Fountain

  7. Shalom friends. Yes, those girls were having unbridled fun. I think it is not something they do very often in religious school.

PA, we are pretty lax about that here. I think there is only one full face showing in my photos here.
I never, however, photograph laborers because I know most don't like it (e.g. if they are illegal).

  8. That's a beautiful fountain and I love for all children to be cousins to each other.

  9. What delightful pictures! Water is life, in more ways than one!

It would be wonderful if everyone, everywhere, remembered that we are all descended from Noah...

  10. I'm thinking in NYC the cops might have chased us out of the fountain... but on the other hand maybe not. It's been awfully hot here too! :)

  11. Oh, Dina, ... how i miss the sun these days! And I mean, I live in the tropic! The weather anomaly has seen a lot of rains in what's suppose to be the dry season. Sigh. But at least I can see the solar warmth in your photos here.
