White magic, angels and demons

.
White magic beneath a blue sky . . . for Sky Watch Friday.

Believe it or not, the first-of-its-kind exhibition "Angels & Demons" is about Jewish magic.
The Bible prohibited Jews from dabbling in black magic, but white magic (what I would call superstitions) was not so bad.

Don't ask, 'cause we didn't go in to see it.
.
But we did have fun outside the museum photographing a visiting Franciscan monk!
Fr. Eduardo, if you see this post, please leave a comment so I can find your blog on Blogger.
Someday soon I will have to take a whole day, alone, and slowly go through the Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem.
Opened in 1992, it bills itself as "the only museum in the world dedicated to the history of the Bible and the Ancient Near East."
.
This Ministry of Tourism press release shows some fascinating examples of the objects that many believed, and some still believe, to be magical.

  4. What an intriguing title for an exhibit. A play on the film/book title by Dan Brown. Me, I've always wondered about that witch of Endore passage and about how the false prophets could simulate some of the miracles Moses performed such as their rods turning into serpents, too. . .I bet the exhibit attempts to address my curiosity about these and other questions.
The sunlight looks amazing in your shots.

  6. It would probably be interesting anyway. Too much rationalism affects the way of thinking and I do not believe in magic...

  12. I don't believe in witchcraft, but I must say that I find it fascinating. In Cornwall we once visited a museum dedicated to Cornish witches and rituals of sorcerers. And of course Merlin The Magician was and still is, an overpowering influence in the Celtic areas. The Name of the museum :"Angels and Demons"is the title of one of Dan Brown's books, in which one of the angels turns out to be a demon.
    Thanks for sharing!

  13. Thanks friends, for your impressions.

Wil, Angels and Demons is just the name of the temporary exhibition at the Bible Lands Museum. I doubt we would have enough amulets, etc. to fill a whole museum on just that subject.
