This row of trees (with Shadow Shot Sunday shadows) is on Jerusalem's Mount of Olives.
They are strong and alive with green.
.
But on Mt. Carmel, near Haifa, 5.5 million of their brother and sister trees are now black and dead and more continue to burn ever since the huge forest fire started on Thursday.

Dina, how devastating for your country! We have just started our fire ban season. With the good spring rains we had, there has been equally prodigious growth added to no massive fire since 1983, the situation this year could so easily become explosive.
ReplyDeleteI grieve with you for the loss of your people and your trees.
Lovely shot! So sad to hear of the fires.
ReplyDeleteA lovely scene and reminder of the destruction elsewhere. Such sad news.

woow lovely shot there
ReplyDeleteI, too, grieve with you and your country for the loss of lives and trees, Dina! Forest fires are so totally destructive and terrifying. Your beautiful shadow shot is a sad reminder of the beauty that has been lost!

The trees here remain both real and a memory - that fire can destroy is undeniable. That the fires cease and new saplings grow back is our hope and in our prayers...
ReplyDeleteThere was another arson attempt at Zur Hadassah today. This madness has to end.
ReplyDeleteStay safe Dina, keep your radio on.
The fires always are too sorrowful for words. Your photo is quite charming, with the shadows and the muted tones.
ReplyDeleteA lovely shadow shot! My sympathies for your troubles with the terrible fires - something which we fortunately don't experience here.
ReplyDeleteDina, I am so sorry about Mt. Carmel. I pray for the rain, as I did in July in Moscow. Please be strong.

A wonderful photo but I'm so sad to hear about the forest fire. I just read up about it via your link and it's heartbreaking. I do so wish I could send the rain I'm experiencing right now your way. Take care and stay safe!
ReplyDeleteso much sadness, yet the trees stand as testament to the strength of the land and the people who dwell in this ancient place.
ReplyDeleteLove the trees with subtle shadows.
ReplyDeleteHow awful for you with the forest fire.
It's been on our news and we're all feeling horrible for you. My mother has been watching it on the Japanese news also. This is such a sad, terrible time. We were glad to hear that there are other countries coming to help. You don't have many forestlands. Every tree is so very precious.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the fires and i do hope that there will soon be enough help to extinguish them .
ReplyDeleteHow devastating, I am sorry to learn about the fires.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture, great shadows
