For ABC Wednesday "I" Day, I find it incredible, the rumor that led to today's riots on the eastern side of Jerusalem.
.Incitement by the Islamic Movement in Israel and by Hamas urged Palestinians to make a "Day of Rage" and to defend al-Aksa mosque (on the Temple Mount) from a perceived approaching Jewish take-over.
They told the people that after last night's dedication of the Hurva (see previous post) Synagogue, which is in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, the Jews would enter the (Muslim-administered) Temple Mount and lay a cornerstone for the Third Temple.
.
.
Believe me, this little play model of the Third Temple (with my reflection like cherub wings) displayed in the window of a gift shop in the Jewish Quarter is the closest thing to a real-life Temple that we will ever see in Jerusalem.
No one is going up to the Temple Mount to rebuild the Temple.
.
Oh my...
ReplyDeleteWe've been hearing things here in Hawaii, too. Things are quite tense, hunh?
Can I just say ditto to your post?
ReplyDeleteHi Kay. I think "unrest" is a nice way to say it.
ReplyDeleteRobin, as a fellow Israeli you sure can say ditto!
«Louis» appreciates the little joke card...
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note is Melanie Phillips' column in The Spectator. U.S. readers take note and put the heat on your Congresscritters...
Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteOn the behalf of ABC Wed. team thanks for playing.
I think I got it. Sounds like our economy.
ReplyDeleteAll I can do is to keep praying for peace in your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteThank you for telling us the UNREPORTED part of the story!!!!

The rumor mill is quite amazing ... and the gullibility of people.
ReplyDeleteKeeping fingers crossed ...
Dina,
ReplyDeleteThanks for that clarification. I couldn't figure out why in the world a Day of Rage would follow the Huerva dedication.
beautiful Dina, I wish I had encouraging words for this post but you know all I can think of saying is that-
ReplyDeletethere is really no room for heaven on earth....
I'll make up for this on my next visit. I am usually pretty upbeat.
love and light
shalom.
This is what I read on a website called the Jerusalem Post:
ReplyDelete"Hamas also urged Palestinians on Tuesday to step up the protests against Israel’s measures in Jerusalem. The appeal came after the Islamist movement called for a day of “rage” in Jerusalem on Tuesday to protest plans to build new homes in Ramat Shlomo and the inauguration of the old synagogue."
I do wish everybody would chill, as you say, Dina.
Last evening our television news fully reported the "Day of Rage". I always pray for peace and serenity in Jerusalem.
ReplyDeleteLovely humor.... everybody chill indeed.
ReplyDeleteYou are very diplomatic, indeed.
Just want to wish you HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
Have you a great one!

Riots because of rumors? That's so sad. I really pray that things cool down soon.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so often made errors in the media here with us about Israel, but we praying for peace in your country.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post as always!
Wish you a great day:-)
Shalom
The Arab leadership is so corrupt on so many levels. In 61 years, all I have seen of Palestinian leadership is rage. What have they built? I wish I could be more sympathetic, but using people's ignorance to maintain control, I find deplorable.
ReplyDeleteIsrael, unlike the Arabs, protects non-Jewish religious sites. Perhaps, some day the Palestinians will wake up to the fact that tourism is good business.
Beautiful Dina,
ReplyDeleteIt is St. Patrick's Day today and I would like to pass onto you some of that luck of the irish.

HEre is wishing evergreen peace in the middle east

ReplyDeleteLove that little note. LOL. It is a good bit of comic relief within the "unrest".
ReplyDeleteSigh -no wonder we are urged to pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
ReplyDeletefunny joke about the temple sale:)
"Incredible" is just the right word. I'm not an Israeli, but I'll add my "ditto" to Robin's if I may.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've also heard about the Day of Rage!... Will this ever ends?!?!
